We are always looking for motivated, organized research assistants who want to learn more about language development, perception, and learning. Typical RA tasks include managing lab phones and email for participant recruitment and scheduling, data collection and coding, and interacting with families and children. There may also be opportunities to work on technical tasks, like programming experiments and website design. Work hours include weekly lab meetings to discuss relevant studies and to allow RA’s to learn more about the research process. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in study topics and be prepared to commit to 8 hours/week for 1-2 semesters. No previous research experience is required, but any prior experience in a lab or working with young children could be advantageous. Similarly, bilingual Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply, but Spanish language skills are not required. Students will be selected based on demonstrated interest in research topics and work ethic.

Interested? To apply, email a 1-page cover letter*, a CV/resume, and a copy of your unofficial transcripts to [email protected]
*Your cover letter should explain why you are interested in becoming an RA and what knowledge and experience you can bring to the lab. Typically, research assistants are UTEP students who receive course credit, but we sometimes can offer positions for non-student volunteers or occasionally, paid staff members. |
