Many families want to read with their children in more than one language as a way of helping children learn new words and important concepts in all of their languages. In collaboration with the Learning & Development Lab at Arizona State University, we are examining the text of bilingual children’s picture books to better understand the learning opportunities that books may offer in both English and Spanish.

Learning does not end in childhood, and language presents important challenges and opportunities for adults, too. Some of our studies test how adults who know one, two, or many languages use their knowledge and continue learning.
